Directions to Kukui‘ula Community :

From Lihue, follow the road leaving Lihue Airport (Ahukini Road) through the first traffic signal for approximately 1 mile.

Turn left at the second light (when you can't go straight anymore) on Kuhio Highway.

Follow Kuhio Highway through town (stay in the right lane).

Kuhio Highway turns into Kaumuali'i Highway, also known as Highway 50.

Continue to travel past the Kukui Grove Shopping Center on the left.

Continue to travel past the Gaylord's/Kilohana on the right.

Continue to travel past the Kauai Community College.

Continue to travel an additional 5 miles along Kaumauli'i Highway for an approximate 15-minute drive from Kaua'i Community College.

Turn left onto Maluhia Road to Old Kōloa Town (through the Tree Tunnel).

Drive approximately 5 minutes into Old Kōloa Town where the Road "T" intersects.

Turn right on Kōloa Road.

Drive approximately 500 feet to an intersection of Po'ipú Road by the Chevron Gas Station.

Turn left on Po'ipú Road.

The offices are located at 2909 Poipu Road before the Lawaii Road turn.

What is available at Kukui'ula?
Our first offering consists of 123 lots comprised of both custom and cottage opportunities. Additional lots will become available from time to time as mapping and engineering are completed. In the initial offering, we proudly present the following:

  • 35 Kukui'ula Mauka Collection custom hillside lots ranging from approximately one half to just over one acre.
  • 35 Kukui'ula Makai Custom lots located closer to the shore and averaging one third to one half acre.
  • 53 Kukui'ula Cottages, also located within the Makai Collection and affording the most extraordinary turn-key opportunity you’ll find! Each cottage is on roughly one quarter acre and averages between approximately 1500 to 4600 square feet including lanai and garage areas.

What types of homes will be offered at Kukui'ula?
The first homes offered at Kukui'ula are single-family cottages, which will have a "plantation" look and feel, designed in the old historic plantation style. Custom Homesites are available where you can select your own architect to design and build in accordance with the custom home design guidelines. Pre-approvals by the Design Review Committee are a part of the requirements.

Where is the nearest beach?
A small public beach currently exists at Kukui'ula Bay, near Spouting Horn, and adjacent to Kukui'ula across Lawai Road. Additionally, there is a popular snorkeling beach adjacent to The Beach House Restaurant, less than a mile away from Kukui'ula Bay. Po'ipu Beach is approximately 2 miles east of Kukui'ula Bay.

Will Kukui'ula be a gated community?
No. However, security staff will provide roving security In the future, some of the neighborhoods within Kukui'ula may have controlled access or a Greeter House staffed as a part of the individual community guidelines.

Will there be a golf course at Kukui'ula?
An 18-hole Tom Weiskopf-designed golf course will command lofty views of blue sea and rugged volcanic coastline intermixed with lush plantation landscaping throughout. The golf course is currently scheduled for completion in 2010. In addition, there are also several public golf courses conveniently located on the Island.

Is the golf club private?
The golf course and its related facilities are privately owned and operated by The Club at Kukui'ula ("The Club") and are primarily for the use of Kukui'ula property owners and their guests. Four tee times per day have been reserved for local Kaua'i residents, subject to the established times and rates. In addition, guests in The Lodge at Kukui'ula, other Plantation Members, and prospective purchasers will be allowed limited golf course access subject to tee time availability and other rules and restrictions (including the payment of golf cart and green fees). In addition, the Developer and The Club reserve the right to offer a limited number of golf privileges to employees or other non-Kukui'ula residents from time to time subject to the governing documents.

What will golf privileges include?
All property owners will be granted rights to use the Golf facilities, in accordance with The Club Rules. In addition, each property owner will have an opportunity at the time of their purchase to also apply for additional golf privileges and to play golf on The Club's golf course without the payment of green fees (a "Golf Membership"). Advance reservation privileges for tee times will also be part of the special privileges granted to a Golf Member, as specified in The Club Rules (with priority over Plantation Members who have not purchased a Golf Membership). Golf Memberships will be limited to up to 350 Golf Members. The Developer specifically reserves the right to allow certain persons and entities who are not owners within Kukui'ula to use the facilities of The Club at such times and upon payment of such fees, if any, as may be determined by the Developer.

What community amenities are currently planned to be offered in Kukui'ula?
Kukui'ula is planned to offer residents a variety of amenities, services, activities and programs. The Club at Kukui'ula will include the 18-hole Tom Weiskopf designed Kukui'ula Golf Course, Kukui'ula Plantation House (Main Clubhouse), The Kukui'ula Spa, pool grille, casual and fine dining. The Club is planned to provide for social, leisure, educational, cultural, artistic, environmental and historical activities, as well as other activities and programs that advance The Club's mission, to the homeowners within Kukui'ula and other permitted guests in accordance with The Club's governing documents.

The Kukui'ula Spa will become a renowned experience, a future place for well-being and tranquility to imbue our homeowners and their guests with a sense of wholeness unequaled in the world. The construction of The Club amenities is currently expected to be completed in 2010 and is bonded for completion.

In addition, certain facilities and areas within Kukui'ula that The Club owns or for which it has responsibility and certain services The Club provides may be made available from time to time for use and enjoyment of the public or others in accordance with the governing documents.

There will also be interconnecting trails and paths throughout Kukui‘ula.

What will Plantation Memberships include?
Under the "Plantation Membership" program the Owners of each Unit within Kukui'ula are automatically members of The Club as part of the purchase of their property within this community. Each Plantation Member will be entitled to use The Club and enjoy The Club property and services, subject to The Club rules. Privileges will include:

  • Use of the food and beverage facilities on The Club Property
  • Use of recreational facilities and amenities operated by The Club on The Club Property
  • Unaccompanied guest privileges for the parents, children and grandchildren and accompanied guest privileges for those guests designated by the Plantation Member, subject to such rules as The Club may adopt
  • Member rates for rental of The Club's facilities for meetings and special events
  • Member rates for programs, lessons, spa treatments, and classes, which The Club may, but is not obligated to, offer from time to time
  • Use of The Club's fitness center
  • Plantation Member rates for greens fees
  • Participation in such social activities as The Club may sponsor and designate from time to time for Plantation Members, and
  • Enjoyment of such additional privileges, if any, as The Club may specify
All privileges of Plantation Membership shall be limited to operating hours and subject to payment of such charges for food and beverage service as The Club may establish. Such privileges shall also be subject to such membership policies and rules as The Club may establish and modify from time to time.

What are the current Association and Club membership monthly assessments at Kukui'ula?*

  • Homeowners Association Membership: $800 a month
  • Club Plantation Membership: $1000 a month (the Initiation Fee for the Plantation Club membership is waived for purchase of a lot through the Developer)
  • Golf Membership: $400 a month (also requires the entry purchase of an optional golf membership)

Will there be paths and trails throughout the community?
Kukui'ula plans to have interconnecting trails and paths throughout the community for walking, biking, and hiking.

What is currently planned to be featured in each park?
There is an approximately 20-acre parcel on Po'ipu Road planned and designed for a multi-use Community Park usable by the public to accommodate a variety of sporting (soccer, football, baseball) and recreational activities. At a future date, we will enhance the public park facility near Kukui'ula Bay. There are various other green spaces throughout Kukui'ula that will be maintained by the Kukui'ula Community Association.

When will the parks be ready for use?
The Community Park is planned to be available for use by December 2010. The Kukui'ula Bay Park is currently planned to be enhanced by December 2010.

Where are the nearest schools?
Preschool, elementary, junior and senior high schools, and community college are all available in the area for residents of Kukui'ula. The current elementary school, Kōloa School, is located just north of Kukui'ula on Po'ipu Road. Chiefess Kamakahelei Middle School is in Puhi and Kaua'i High School is located in Lihue.

The Kōloa Early School, a part of the Kamehameha Schools, provides early child education for 3 and 4 year olds. This facility is located at 5521 Kōloa Road in Old Kōloa Town.

In addition to the above public schools, on Kaua'i, there are a number of private schools covering grades 1-12 in the community including parochial and non-sectarian programs for students of all ages. Island School is located in Puhi behind the Kaua'i Community College. Kula School is located on the north shore. Many of the schools are recognized by the Hawai'i Association of Independent Schools.

The Kahili Adventist School is a privately subsidized school for kindergarten through/including 12th grade.

For secondary education opportunities, Kaua'i Community College is a fully accredited community college offering a range of general education classes, summer school, and some evening courses.

Where are the nearest shopping facilities?
The new retail center, Kukui'ula Village, will be located within the Kukui'ula Community, where Po'ipu Road will intersect with the future Western Bypass Road. Additionally, there is a small shopping plaza in Po'ipu. In Old Kōloa Town there are a number of shops and restaurants, a pharmacy, a hardware store, and a grocery store. For larger shopping needs, bigger stores such as Macy's, Sears, Home Depot, Wal-Mart, K-Mart, Costco and others are located at or very near Kukui Grove Shopping Mall in Lihue, approximately 15 or so miles away.

Where are the nearest medical facilities?
Existing hospitals on Kaua'i consist of the Wilcox Memorial Hospital and Health Center, Kaua'i Veterans Memorial Hospital, Mahelona Samuel Memorial Hospital and a satellite facility of the St. Francis Hospital. The Wilcox Hospital is the largest facility on Kaua'i, located in Lihue, which was recently expanded and renovated. Besides the hospital and the main Kaua'i Medical Clinic, there are also various neighborhood clinics very conveniently located across the island. These include Waimea Dispensary and the Kōloa office of the Kauai Medical Group.
